The International Research Center for Modern WAVE Physics (IRCMWP) is an independent international research organization affiliated with the International Society of Wave Physics (ISWAVEPHYSICS). The Center maintains partnership relationships with multiple top global research institutions, conducting collaborative research projects, academic conferences, and personnel exchanges, while always preserving its independent organizational identity and decision-making autonomy.

The Center conducts full-spectrum wave physics research from microscopic quantum fluctuations to macroscopic cosmic gravitational waves, covering acoustics, elastic waves, electromagnetic waves, quantum waves, and gravitational waves, dedicated to exploring the fundamental laws of wave phenomena and driving innovation in basic physics and interdisciplinary sciences.

Upholding the development philosophy of "Openness, Collaboration, Innovation, and Excellence," the Center actively participates in international big science programs (LIGO, Virgo, LISA, Taiji, etc.) and has achieved a series of internationally influential original results in gravitational wave detection, plasma physics, space weather forecasting, nonlinear wave theory, and ultrasonic engineering.

The Director will provide visionary scientific and administrative leadership to position IRCMWP at the global forefront of cross-disciplinary wave science.

Role Purpose

To lead IRCMWP as its chief scientific officer and executive head, responsible for:

  • Setting the strategic scientific direction of the Institute.
  • Building and sustaining a world-class research environment.
  • Mobilizing international funding and partnerships.
  • Mentoring the next generation of leaders in modern wave physics.
  • Strengthening collaboration with ISWAVEPHYSICS and advancing the Society's mission of academic exchange and research.

Key Responsibilities

A. Scientific Leadership & Strategy

  • Define and execute a 5–10 year research vision spanning general relativity, quantum acoustics, geometric mechanics, electromagnetic waves, and cross-disciplinary wave sciences.
  • Establish and oversee flagship research programs and cross-cutting initiatives.
  • Ensure IRCMWP remains internationally competitive and scientifically innovative.

B. Research Excellence

  • Maintain an active, internationally recognized personal research portfolio in wave physics, with emphasis on general relativity, quantum acoustics, and electromagnetic waves.
  • Publish and disseminate research findings through prestigious international channels.
  • Represent IRCMWP at major global conferences, symposia, and scientific assemblies.

C. Institutional Management

  • Oversee all administrative, financial, and operational functions of the Center.
  • Manage annual budgets, capital expenditures, and research infrastructure.
  • Lead recruitment and retention of top-tier faculty, postdoctoral researchers, and technical staff.

D. Funding & Resource Development

  • Secure competitive international grants, government funding, and private-sector partnerships.
  • Cultivate relationships with national science foundations, international agencies, and philanthropic donors.
  • Develop intellectual property and technology transfer strategies where applicable.

E. Education & Talent Development

  • Supervise and mentor Ph.D. students, postdoctoral fellows, and junior faculty.
  • Design and promote advanced training programs, summer schools, and visiting scholar schemes.
  • Foster an inclusive, equitable, and high-performance research culture.

F. External Relations & Partnerships

  • Build strategic alliances with peer institutions, international laboratories, and industry partners.
  • Serve as the public scientific spokesperson for IRCMWP with media, government, and funding bodies.
  • Participate in national and international science policy advisory roles.
  • Strengthen ties with ISWAVEPHYSICS to promote academic exchange and collaborative research globally.

G. Journal Establishment & Editorial Leadership

  • Establish and launch the flagship peer-reviewed journal "Review of Modern Wave Physics X" as the primary publication platform for the Institute, ISWAVEPHYSICS, and the broader international wave physics community.
  • Leverage extensive prior editorial leadership to appoint and guide the Editorial Board, comprising world-class scientists in wave physics, general relativity, quantum acoustics, geometric mechanics, and electromagnetic waves.
  • Define the journal's scope, editorial standards, and peer-review policies to ensure the highest scientific rigor and international prestige.
  • Secure publisher partnerships, indexing agreements, and institutional subscriptions to achieve global dissemination and impact.
  • Oversee the journal's strategic development to position it as a leading venue for multidisciplinary wave physics research within five years of launch.

Candidate Requirements

Essential Qualifications

Academic Credentials Ph.D. (Doctorate) in Wave Physics, Theoretical Acoustics, Electromagnetism, or an equivalent foundational discipline.
Professorial Standing Current appointment (or equivalent) as Full Professor at a recognized world-class university or premier national research laboratory.
Professional Experience More than 25 years of active professional work experience in research, academia, or related scientific leadership roles following the award of the doctoral degree.
Editor-in-Chief Experience More than 10 years of cumulative experience serving as Editor-in-Chief (or equivalent top editorial leadership role) of a recognized peer-reviewed scientific journal.
Research Eminence Internationally recognized as a world-class scientist with sustained, high-impact contributions to wave physics.
Domain Expertise Deep expertise in General Relativity (GR) and Quantum Acoustics, plus demonstrated work at the intersection of general relativity acoustics, geometric mechanics, electromagnetic waves, and cross-disciplinary wave sciences.
Leadership Experience Proven track record as a director, department head, center lead, or equivalent senior administrator in a major research organization.
Funding Record Demonstrated success in securing large-scale competitive research grants and managing multi-year, multi-investigator budgets.
Interdisciplinary Fluency Documented ability to lead or substantially contribute to cross-disciplinary research bridging physics, mathematics, and engineering.
Communication Exceptional skills in scientific writing, public presentation, and stakeholder engagement; fluency in English (mandatory).
